Increased Productivity at CDI
CDI International Inc. operates approximately
forty trucks out of Calgary, Alberta. Roughly thirty-five of the
trucks do long haul across North America, and they have about six
trucks in a local division. CDI's Carolynn Robertson speaks about
Axon.
Tell us about your experience with Axon
Trucking Software.
"I really like the system. It's been very good, very helpful. We
went from a paper system to a computerized system with Axon. Before
Axon we were running about 15 trucks, so it's helped us increase our
fleet."
What sort of problems has the Axon system
helped you solve?
"It's helped us solve some
payroll problems because at the time of order entry we're able
to track payroll instantly, which really saves a lot of time at the
end of the month. And it's helped us track our equipment revenue, to
see how each piece of equipment is doing. It's also helped us track
our revenue in terms of fuel surcharge on forklift charges that we
bill out - stuff like that. It's helped us speed up our invoicing --
we used to hand-write our invoices. It has increased our staff
productivity. It has certainly helped in terms of tracking orders.
We enter orders right away. The dispatch board really helps us know
what orders are pending - have still not been put on our trucks that
perhaps we need to broker out. ... You know, freight that we still
have on the go."
 Do
you think that Axon is a good investment for a trucking company like
yours?
"It is! I certainly think that it is worth every cent. It
has saved us a lot of time. And you know what they say - "time is
money," and the amount of hours that we have to put in is certainly
less. I would say it probably saves us at least ten to twenty hours
a week in invoicing. And it used to be a two-- or three-day project
to get payroll done every month. Now it's only a couple of hours, to
check back and make sure we did everything right, and away we go."
How has your support and training been
with Axon?
"The support has been awesome. They always answer all my questions.
And I think the training is excellent. Every time we hire a new
staff member, Joanne [from Axon] is right there willing to get them
trained."
Finally, Carolynn, if you were speaking
to one of your peers in the trucking industry, what would you say to
them about Axon?
"I would tell them that the system is awesome and that it saves me
so much time compared to the way we did things before, especially in
payroll. Payroll takes me 20 minutes a week to do now!"
